ABOUT US
It all started in September 2019 when Sofia and Kiki drove by a little house that was for sale in the old Ste Dorothee area. Sofia envisioned that little house as a little Greek boutique and since Kiki owned a shop in Greece when she lived there, setting it up would not be an issue.
They went and rang the doorbell of the owner and asked if she would be willing to rent the small little house.
They were thrilled to find out that the owner was willing to rent the space. The only question now was, what to name the shop?
Only one name fit perfectly to describe the concept of the store:
MERAKI
Doing something with soul, creativity, or love - when you put "something of yourself" into what you're doing, whatever it may be.
It was just perfect since both ladies are creative and artistic in their own way.
By October they signed the lease. They gathered antique furniture from all around and painted everything themselves. Thankfully they had family and friends to also help with the set up and they were ready to open by November 2019.
The boutique was not in a central market place and yet they received a lot of love and support from everyone that found out about Meraki boutique.
2020 was a tough year for everyone, and with all the measures in place, they needed a larger space to serve more than one person at a time. They moved in their current location in October 2020 which was 5 times the size of the little house.
Now they needed to fill this brand new space with goods and therefore expanded they collections from handmade jewelry (designed and made by Kiki) to imported goods from Greece, such as home decor, leather shoes, clothing, religious icons wedding and baptism favours and the gorgeous baptismal room which is Sofia’s specialty!
The ladies also support local Greek artists by showcasing their creations in their boutique.
Meraki Boutique always supports Greek events by donating gifts for their raffles.
Customers love their experience in the boutique because it is truly reminiscent of a boutique in some beautiful island of Greece.
They have received support not only from the Greek community but from many other ethnicities and cultures that love the store concept and love Greece!
Sofia and Kiki love spreading the love of Greece in Laval and hopefully in the future they can do the same in other areas.
In the meantime they continue to work hard and always with Meraki!
